Iranian Forces State Assault on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Tehran reports attacking a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any damage is uncertain and the US has remained silent.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - which all house US military bases - stated they have intercepted incoming projectiles in their territorial skies.
In the Qatari capital, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That preceding assault - initiated at around 06:15 GMT - has so far focused on sites associated with the Iranian leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the people of Iran to rise up against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military reported it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported missile fragments fell on a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.
The United States Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
