Former Physician Charged with Assault Allegations Involving 38 Patients

Legal authorities report that a ex- physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were patients.

Details of the Grave Charges

Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 to 2021.

One deputy chief CPS official said, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”

Scope of the Investigation

These allegations come after what investigators described as a “complex investigation” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and a facility in Dudley.

The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.

The charging documents said the 45 charges he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of sexual assault.
  • 17 counts of assault by penetration.
  • Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
